Default rear end too high

I recently replaced the rear leaf spring spacers, socks, body mounts, and adjustable strut rods. There's now a 6" gap between the top of the tire and wheel well. It looks way too high and Im not sure how to adjust it. I've seen others use 8" spring bolts but this is usually after they replace the spring. Should I do this if I only replaced the spacers?

I also have some positive camber in the rear so I think the strut rods still need some adjusting.

Its the stock spring with new spacers. I don't understand why its sitting so high. Maybe I'll take the spring off and try to reinstall it.

No. I did the install over the winter so the car has been sitting for several weeks. I thought it would have settled by now... I'll take it out and see if that helps.

The rear half shafts should be about level with the ground....

If the front is low enough you can use it as a snowplow..sorry just could not resist

Roll the car about 20 feet and see how it sits.

Even rolling the car back and forth 4 or 5 feet a few times should settle it.

Hi John,
Welcome!
First post!!
The rear ride height is determined by several different factors. Not every 'height' prolem has the same causes or solution.
To give you a answer it would help to know what your situation is:
Is this a new problem, or have you had it for a while
How much of the rear suspension has been apart?
What original parts are you still using…. spring, bolts, bushings, shock absorbers? And what parts are new?
Is the car completely assembled or are there still some things to be installed?
Does the car have mufflers?, spare tire carrier and spare tire?, how much gas is in the tank?
A couple of pictures would really help!
Glad you're here!
Regards,
Alan

Hello Alan,

It looks exactly like the pics from sean88. I bought the car from pictures and emails. Maybe Stupid.
It was already high when i received the car.
I replaced the shocks .ac delco
I have spare tire carrier and spare tire. About 13 gallons fuel.
Replaced some bushings and the bolt that attaches the spring to the trailng arm.
The sprint it is fitted direct under de diff.
It was jacked up for a while. Drove only half a mile.

The OP did not say, but my concern would be that the leaf spring may have been fully secured without any weight on the suspension.
I would:
1. Jack it up and loosen, but not remove the 4 bolts at the differential.
2. Set the tires on the ground.
3. Re-tighten the 4 bolts to the specified torque.

Really think you should start a new thread including pictures of your rear suspension rather than have people refer to the OP which you are not.
