The power windows on my 80 Vette flop around if they aren't all the way up. Does anybody know if new regulators will cure this. Were they tight in 1980 ? They also go down real fast & hit bottom real hard ! I want to do whatever it takes to make them work correctly.

As for the flopping around, you need to adjust or replace the felt bumpers inside the door (not the wipers, the bumpers....)
And the window going down fast and hard, the spring is broken or missing. You install the spring with the window fully up so it loads up going down and assists going up.

Possibly not and expensive.

Yes.
You are describing normal wear and tear on thirty five your old parts. What's the condition of the windshield post and halo panel weather stripping. What is the condition of the t-top weather stripping above the door glass? What about the anti-rattle cushions MrJlr mentions?
Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows the factory installation of all door glass related hardware, weather stripping, and has a page on how to set the door glasses to seal against the weather stripping.
