Default Electrical problem

Drove to a car show about 40 miles away. Caravanned with 20 other vettes. Car ran great BUT the guy behind me did say my left brake light was out. Just before we got there, my radio quit working (doesn't really matter: the side pipes are so loud I can't hear it anyway). After parking, noticed the following: clock not working, interior lights (including the lockable middle rear compartment) not working, cigarette lighter not working, radio not working. What does work: wipers, headlights, running lights, brake lights (go figure), backup lights, dash lights, all gauges and gauge lights, turn signals and flashers. Forgot to check the horn. Don't know if it works or not. Checked the fuses and they are all good. Need some help troubleshooting. Thanks in advance and have a great week, Bill

Check for burnt wires on the firewall side of the fuse box. Under the power brake booster. Then start checking ground wires. Corvettes have many!

Either way, recheck the fuses. They are all on the same one.
Well exc. the radio, but he probably has a modern radio with the 12 constant source on the same circuit.

I agree, the clock, lighter and courtesy are all powered by the same fuse.
Check the fuse for continuity and re-install it or a new one and test for power on both clips that hold the fuse.

For the brake light start with a new bulb.

CLOSURE

Thanks for the replies. If I'd replaced the correct #$%@ fuse to start with, we wouldn't be reading this post. Must have checked the same fuse twice is all I can think of. Anyway, all is good. I won't go into the whole story, but I believe it was operator error that caused the spike in voltage and blew the fuse in the first place. When I have another complaint about the brakelight I'll look into that. Have a great Mama's day, Bill

Happy you were able to resolve issue. AG cartridge fuses used in the vette are also available with an led indicator that lights when they blow. Given the horrible access to the fuse box, they are worth the expense. (I have gone one step further and replaced the AG fuses with adapters that take modern blade style fuses and I have then used
ones with led failure lights. This change makes them both more visible and MUCH easier to remove and replace.)
