So this has been going on for about 2 months now and has stopped me from driving my 79 Corvette... At idle everything is fine but once you put it in gear and slightly accelerate it will stutter, sounds like a misfire and die if you continue to accelerate. I have changed the spark plugs, wires, fuel pump, cleaned the carb and can't seem to successfully troubleshoot this.. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions let me know!
Thanks, Taylor
Change fuel filter. Possible accelerator pump in the carb has failed. Look down carb see if fuel is shooting in when throttle is opened.
Fuel shoots out, I just changed the fuel pump yesterday again because nothing was coming out. Will change the fuel filter again!
This might sound dumb but this little white thing is the only fuel filter we're talking about? Correct?

I would loose that plastic filter ,its not really safe and many people have lost there cars due to them rubbing on the block and melting, cracking from fuel pressure ,,, once the gas runs down the block its game over

Okay, I'll reinforce the lines and change filters. Would a kinked line really cause a misfire when accelerating though?
Generally, an accelerator pump failure will cause issues with transitional throttle as the accelerator pump is designed to compensate for the sudden in-rush of air while the main metering circuits come online to compensate. If it's bad enough, yes, it can cause you to stall out if you accelerate hard.
Fuel delivery issues (when they're at the early stages) will come up during periods of high demand - like continued acceleration. A quarter mile run is a great example of "high demand".
The accelerator pump only injects fuel when the throttle angle increases - at the drag strip, that's when you launch and when you transition from launch to WOT. Also, when you re-engage the throttle if you lift to shift.
