Muffler's too loud
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Maybe you should trade mufflers with this guy: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...r-options.html
mufflers dont really make that big a difference in performance as youd think choose by sound
If you have headers and are moving more air through the motor you will have more noise period
As others have stated, the power of the engine greatly effects the sound of the same muffler on different engines. The same Monza Turbos on the built 355 L-82 with 10.2:1 compression and roller cam/AFR heads (.525 lift) are much louder than on the stock L-82 (no LTH headers yet...shorties currently) but not offense or obnoxious. These mufflers have a more European sound..smoother not motorboat type sound...easy to talk at lower rpms but serious at high rpms and throttle position. Long Tube Headers make any engine louder since they flow MUCH more air...My shorty Headers made the stock L-82 louder with no other changes at the time...same exhaust pipes and Mufflers.
As for other mufflers, the magna flows are STRAIGHT through mufflers...there is no way that they are quiet...straight through mufflers cannot be. Forum member Karol has the CC magna flow 2.5 inch duals on his stock 78 L-82 (stock manifolds)...they are louder than my built L-82 355 425 HP motor with monza turbos and shorty headers. Not sure why people say that they are quiet. As long as you don't have cats, the magna flows will have some tone.
I do have 2.5 magna flow cat back system on my 2001 pontiac grand prix 3.1 V6 and even with a magna flow resonator as part of the system with the stock cat, I had to add a chambered resonator to quiet it down. So far the perfect system to me has been the magna flow cat back 2.5 system, magna flow X pipe with 4 high flow cats, and BBK shorty headers on my 94 5.0 Mustang GT convertible....reasonable sound level under normal driving...screams at WOT.
The Dynamo Super Turbo is a CHAMBERED muffler. Dynomax Ultra Flo is the straight through muffler and probably seriously loud.
Hope that helps!

My wife had a '79 C-3 with the standard engine, (L-48?), and her younger brother decided to "dress it up" for her, and put a pair of similar mufflers on it, back in the early 80s. I think that they were made by ANSA, and they too, are no longer made. They had a nice growl, but without being obnoxious.
Usually the Ultraflows are pretty quiet. You could also try the Pypes Race Pros but they will likely sound very similar to the Ultraflows..same design.
I have the Hooker Aerochambers and I also have a full stereo system/Dynamat everywhere etc.. All in all, it's fairly quiet, I can easily carry on a conversation with the wife.. Only time it's loud inside the car is around 1800 rpms (40 ish mph) it does drone just a little right there... Still not overly loud but you do notice it. Mine is 3" with an x pipe so the larger pipes may cause the drone. At freeway speeds, I have no drone and the car is quiet inside.
Dynomax Super Turbos are gonna be your best bet. Quieter then that, you'll need some larger frame mufflers like the Dynomax "Hemi" mufflers. They are a lot longer and very quiet. May be tough to fit them up in there tho.

+1
