Also.. put the blower in any speed but high and test for voltage on the dark blue wire where it plugs into the relay.. In any speed but high, this wire will have voltage.
This wire doesn't show any voltage. Well, it does but small, like .04 V.
I tried various settings (other than high) with ignition on..
Silly question but is the an "easy way" to apply 12 V to the blower motor? As it looks now I'm going to have to remove a cover under the dash?
I am for sure getting a steady 12 V from the red wire (I tested it), and applied it to the purple wire (65) and getting nothing so I guess that means my blower is dead.
NO...ARE you sure that the blower motor is GROUNDED???????
DUB
BINGO!
Checked the ground, it was OK. But noticed the male terminal coming off the motor didn't look too clean. When I put it back on the blower started working! (but only in high speed). The other speeds don't work. I only use high speed anyway, but I'm going to get a new relay anyway just for the spirit of "getting it right". I also want to do the C4 blower mod.
Sometime this week I'll call Wilcox and order a new relay. And maybe a c4 blower. But I also want some new carpet, I was on Wilcoxs website, the prices look right. So I may order some from him as well. As soon as I figure out all I'm going to order I'll give you a call.
Alittle off topic but does anyone know where to find the codes that tell which color carpet is used? I looked on the inside of the drivers door, the numbers are not hardly legible.
While you in there. Check for any abrasions on the wiring harness that comes from the fire wall and runs behind the ignition shield on the passenger side.
I found the blower has an intermittent short when on high fan. The wire had been exposed by the ignition shielding rubbing against the wire bundle. Murphy's law that it would short to one of the few grounds on the car!
