Default Carpet Issue & Paint Preservation

Loving the '76 and appreciate all the advice and help I have found on this forum. I am hoping that you guys can once again offer guidance in the following areas...paint and carpet.

(1) The carpet is original and is in actually really good shape...no fading or wear. However, the carpet on driver side is pulling away in the corners and beginning to sag in a few others. Since the carpet isn't torn, is there a good adhesive that can be used to "re-attach" the carpet to the floor?

(2) We noticed a few little "spider web" type cracks in the paint on the rear bumper just above the tail lights. We wouldn't have really noticed them if it wasn't for the light one late afternoon. Is there a way to perserve the paint and to keep these "cracks" in the paint from getting worse/spreading? Again, they are very minor and not that noticable until you notice them! Any suggestions or products? We live in Arizona and even though it is garaged, it is hot at least 6 months out of the year.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can offer.

Can't help with the paint but to stick your carpet back I have used "Headliner and Carpet Adhesive" by Permatex. You can get it at Auto Zone, comes in a orange can with blue top. I just used it to install the carpet in my "73 and it worked very well.

Photos of your carpet issue would likely help.

Adhesives can do a good job in securing carpet to the floor, however, keep in mind that at some point, you'll need to pull it up for replacement. With this in mind, I recommend using adhesives sparingly. Just use in the local areas to resolve your sag issue.

Hope this helps.
