Default Temperature

I have a 77 with L-82, Auto trans with A/C. That's completely stock. My engine Temp runs from 190 to a tad over 200. Is that the normal temperature for C-3. What temperature are you guys running at.... Also, when I fill the radiator with anti freeze, should I top off the coolant bottle????

I would say that's normal for your Vette. The overflow tank should have markings on it, both hot and cold.

The "coolant" bottle (aka coolant recovery tank or overflow tank) holds about 5 quarts of coolant and when the coolant is cold the coolant should only be about 1" deep. As the coolant heats up it expands and that tank will fill to as much as 3/4 full at full operating temperature.

Ok, on my coolant recovery tank there is a Cold and Hot marks. If the car is cold, I should fill the tank up with coolant to the Cold mark....

If you have the stock 195 thermostat, you're doing great. It will never run lower than 195 after warmup and that's the way it was designed.

Yes. It's a nice sized recovery tank so it will easily take another quart or so on top of that.
