Default Steering Column Question

I removed the steering column to try and fix the loose steering wheel feel. I do have the Jim Shea papers and have been using them as a guide while I work on it, but I've run into a problem I can't figure out.

When I got to the point of removing the turn signal housing and tilt lever cap, a spring/clip fell out and I can't figure out what it's too. You can see in the pics below what the spring looks like, and I believe it somehow goes together in the dimmer mechanism, I'm just not sure how. Does anyone know where this spring goes? Like I said, I've just gotten to the point of removing the housing cover. I haven't been able to find anything that looks like this spring when I google the steering column and look for column parts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

On the ignition side above the key cylinder, white piece of plastic (key warning buzzer switch) that piece snaps onto it.

I was thinking that as well. However, my switch is a different design from the pic you posted, see below. Doesn't have a place for the spring to attach. Additionally, the spring is covered in the nasty grease that is shown in the dimmer cap picture, that was why I was thinking it came from that area somewhere. My buzzer switch doesn't have any grease on it.

Is it possible it is an old one that didn't get removed when new one installed?

That spring doesn't really attach to the buzzer switch. It hooks over it and then it all slides into the column. The taller end of the spring hooks over the end opposite the 2 contacts. With the contacts facing you and pointing to your left, the spring hooks so it's on the bottom. Then the whole show slides into the rectangle on the column.
