Default Investigating engine.

While I'm waiting for paperwork to come through for my new C3 I've been going through the lighting, checking the brakes, etc.
Started to fill out the forms for registration and though my car is a 70 the engine block is a 74 and from a van/bus or something so I guess at some stage the original engine has been exchanged for a short block so anybody's guess what's inside!
Some good news, the heads are 3927186, which I believe are good to have and there's a Performer inlet with a Holley on top, not sure what flavour though, how can I tell what it is? other than vacuum secondaries and what I assume to be an automatic choke I can't see any identification on it.
Cam is unknown, suppose I can measure the lift which might give some clue, seems to run OK although so far I've only driven about 5 yards in and out of the garage!
Next job is pop the top off the dizzy and see what's in there, the coil is a Mallory electronic so hoping it's got an electronic conversion.
Will keep updating as the story unfolds.

Regards
Graham

Hi Graham,
It's good to talk to you again.
I'm thinking you likely know about the Holley 'List' numbers which help identify the carb.
Do you?
If you don't this link may help you figure out where the 'List Number' is, and then also the carb's specs.
There's lot's of Holley info on the internet.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, just what I needed, like I said she seems to run good but I'd like to know what I've got!

Many Thanks

Graham, here's a good image of how to determine the "DNA" of the Holley you have. Post the numbers and we can fill in the blanks for you...

There is more info here on page 2 & 3 for starters...

Good luck... GUSTO

The numbers on my carb are List 6619-1 date 3433 which appears to be an emissions friendly carb from the 70's good for mild cammed 350s so we'll have to see how it goes.
