Got the wipers working now so almost completed all the jobs needed to satisfy our MOT man(road worthiness test) which I need completed successfully before I can register my car for the road.
Last on the list is screen washers, tried last night to get them working without success, put a funnel and hose to the pump suction thinking the pump might need priming but all I got was a dribble of water from the headlamp washers.
There are 2 wires which prevent the plastic cover over the motor gearbox from coming off so I can access the screws which mount the pump drive to the wiper motor, I don't want to pull at them in case I break something.
Otherwise I have a new electric washer pump in stock and was thinking of mounting this as a quick fix but couldn't find the switched earth that controls the original washer pump.
Wiring colours are a problem as someone has previously painted all the under hood areas with black paint!
Thanks, yes after studying the connections with a bright light I could see they were bullet type connectors which after a good soaking in release oil I managed to pull them free, still took a good pull to get them out
I'm now going to rig up an electric pump to get the system working so I can put in for a test and see what else might need attention, then I can fix up the original pump if I can get a repair kit.

You're much better off using the later electric pump and then pump the washer fluid thru your OEM pump. The OEM pump gives you 8 individual "pumps" per button push whereas the electric pump pumps as long as you push the button in. I bought my electric pump from Amazon for only $12 plus a couple of bucks shipping. Once I received the new pump I epoxied a brass nipple in the inlet side then merely spliced the modified pump into the pressure line.

My OEM pump has 4 outlets 2 for the screen wash and 2 for the headlights so as i found 2 electric pumps in my "come in handy drawer" I could wire the second one via a relay to supply the headlamp washers which appear to be open all the time as water was dribbling out of them when I was attempting to prime the original pump.
The washer pump runs off the dark blue wire from the wiper switch and gets power off the yellow wire from the wiper motor system.
So the yellow wire should be hot waiting for ground. If you hear the pump pumping and your not getting water out of it.. an old primer trick is to put a hose on the center nipple (feed) and take a mouth full of water and blow it in the pump. This is quick and painless and usually works. If you do it this way and it won't pump then the diaphragm is probably cracked.
The two wires, yellow and dark blue should have bullet terminal ends and as Melwff stated, they just pull out of the connector and then the cover pulls right off.
Wilcox, I have the same problem as original poster, thank you so very much for all the help you give us. The only problem I have is my I -pad screen getting full from saving so much help!!

Thank you for the kind words... You don't need to save it on your Ipad, if I post a picture here, it's from my repair and installation help website:

Thanks for that info Willcox, I'd already been to your excellent web site and figured out the electrics, wasn't sure about the type of connector to know which way to pull them.
For now I've plumbed in an electric pump and now I've got washers and will sort the original pump by the by.
Thanks
