FWIW to the OP, hope I'm reading it wrong, but from our side of the screen that last post comes off somewhat as if even support from those of us who do understand why you might prefer manual steering, or any additional tips/info offered which isn't directly related to performing the conversion itself were unwelcomed...
edit - Upon review, glad to admit having read it wrong.

No, not at all...to those that were supportive, THANK YOU, please keep any info coming... to those of you who were, lets say, LESS than supportive, I'm all set...

FWIW, while cranking in a bit more caster with PS helps perceived feel, from a drivability point of view I've personally found it preferable to keep that down in the 2'ish degree positive range with manual steering. Notwithstanding tire selection (the ultimate variable in the big picture), less caster tends to improve responsiveness, and more improves stability. How coarse or fine the adjustments necessary to really dial things in to your liking depends on how sensitive you become to the resulting changes, so don't be afraid to play with it. HTH
To those of you that responded with answers to the question asked, THANK YOU. To those of you questioning/commenting on why/what I do with MY car, go post in someone else's thread. My cousin owns a 73 that he is the second owner of, it was ordered without PS, I've driven his car, and it feels great at speed. MY car isn't a daily driver, will NEVER be parallel parked or driven to get groceries or to the mall, so why all the negative Nancy stuff ? It's a weekend toy or a back road work commuter (all of 7 miles each way) and will see the drag strip quite a bit. As my screen name implies, I own a C6 in Machine Sliver that has plenty of power options and a GMC truck that is my real commuting vehicle with ALL the options...I can live without PS in my 73...
I see no reason to justify how a person builds their own car and I fully relate to what you said about "negative nancys" but welcome to the corvetteforum that is just how some cats here are they love to get in negative remarks ( and seldom if ever help ) this thread was actually rather tame in that some get way out there....
Oh I've been here for a while now, so this isn't my first dance, I know how it can go around here, believe me...but I've found this place to be awesome MOST of the time...hey, it's the internet, have to expect a few cranks to show up now and then. But seriously, a BIG thank you to everyone that took time to give positive answers to the original question AND to those that offered advice pertaining to it. You guys make this place great.
On the two 68s with manual steering that I've worked on, one BBC & one SBC both used the inner tie rod hole. Outer holes had the factory filler. I'm with MelWff 'why would you want to do that?' T
Because I wanted to know why. Good reason, now I know, T
I did the Borgeson conversion - less than 100 bucks, no need to remove your current relay rod. Just get rid of all your PS stuff and bolt this on.
I am used to driving a 1968 big block car with manual steering, so I put one of these on a 1974 small block car. Made the steering crisper and 1 less belt and system to worry about on the car.
Borgeson 990002 Manual Drag Link Adapter is what you want.

Hi L71
Did you also change to the manual steering pitman arm ?
I have thought of doing the same. I totally rebuilt my PS to new specs and after getting the car back on the road I felt the steering was too light. My engine is a 383 with aluminum heads and I have completely removed the A/C system. I removed the PS belt and driven to car 1000 miles and found the feel to be very responsive with good road feel. I'm going to install the manual control rod and don't think the PS mount holes will be a problem as that is were the tie rods are now and again I like the feel. I have also parallel parked with out the PS and find it to be no problem.

I also have a complete Manual steering system with the gear box complete ( used ). if you still need one. I live in Michigan. I would like to sell this at a decent price.
I hope it works for you, but I hated the manual steering. I added PS (Borgeson) and it's a great pleasure to drive now.
Hey would you mind linking me to some instructions on this conversion? I am a new 74 owner with manual steering and looking to convert to borgesons ps system

thanks for the quick reply I was searching that and all the videos seem great for installing the new power steering box but has nothing about how to install the power steering pump and pully on a car that doesn’t currently have it
