A/F reading, help a newb
So my new 496 had got 80 miles on it.
The smell from the exhaust has always smelled way rich to me.
I had Lars dial in my QF 830 and he showed me a picture of 14.2 after setting it up.
Today I bought a Innovate Motorsports 3837 LM-2 and hooked it up to the tail pipe. They warn you that you can get false lean readings.
Would you expect 80.1 to 40.1 at idle?

No, something is wrong. Did you calibrate the unit before you used it? Idle is usually high 13's to mid 14's at least that is what I get with a std camshaft.

The LM-2 will read between 7.35 to 22.39 AFR, thats not AFR your looking at.

It shows AFR, not lambda.

Does it show 21% oxygen in free air?
If you put butane on the sensor tip (unlit lighter), does it go full rich?

I'll give that a try tonight. I re calibrated it again and it comes back exactly at 20.9 like the documents suggests.

Is this a probe you stick into the tail pipe, or have you added an O2 sensor to the header collector? The tail pipe probe is pretty useless at idle, I'm told.

I don't have an O2 bung yet.
That's next on the list.
