How can I identify if my 71 has a Muncie or Borg Warner manual trans?

Muncie has 7 bolts in the side cover
Borg Warner ST10 has 9 bolts

Also, a Muncie will have "General Motors Corp." cast into the side of the main case, while the Super T-10 has "W.G. DIV." (for Warner Gear Division) cast into the case.

Your car should have a Muncie, as that's what came in 71 Corvettes. The Super T-10 wasn't used until 75.
