Default 71 factory alarm

I don't have the alarm on my 71. The switches are on the body when you open the door. Yesterday I pulled the inspection covers off to look at the body mount and to check rust..must say, super clean and no rust! Anyway there is wiring in there for those switches. Is it safe to say the vette originally had the factory alarm?

Do you have the switch in the rear panel? Look up behind the driver side muffler and see if you have the horn... Most cars with the alarm removed still have the horn because they are a PITA to remove... check for the alarm relay in the console too..

Hi HT,
The 2 sets of switches you see in the door jams are for the door ajar warning (rear) and the courtesy lights (front).
All 71 cars had them.
They're positioned so that even if the door moves just slightly off the striker the door ajar light on the dash lights while the door needs to move further for the courtesy light switch to turn the interior lights on.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. That explains it. Alan are the switches the same? I'm going to get that system working.
