This winter I'm going to be doing a cam swap along with new intake and new exhaust headers back, topped off with a rebuilt and tuned Q-Jet. I'm also wanting to swapping heads while the top of the engine is apart. Here's my question...
but I was wondering if I should go with them or just stick to some World S/R Torquer Iron heads.
The car is almost a daily driver when the weather is nice, so I need something streetable and not to outragious. I'm looking for more torque than high end. Thanks in advance
As far as torque goes in the way down low, the S/R torquers will produce just a bit more, but you have to account for added compression the TFS's allow you, and the fact that they pull about 40 lbs off the nose.
If it were my choice, I'd go with the TFS. The SRs have not proved well on some of my buddy's machines...
I got and I like em. If you can get for less $500 I would take em. They are good, probably not great, heads and are a lot lighter than iron ones. With alum you can run higher comp on the same octane rated gas than iron heads. Helps the engine run cooler too.
No personal experience with the TFS 23 dgr heads, but I hear the new G2's are better. Another alternative is the Edelbrock RPM's. I have the Edelbrocks on my big-block and like them alot. Very high quality.
I just got a slightly used set off of EBay w/58cc heads which will get my comp ratio up to around 10.0 or so. Valve sizes are the same as what I have now, but that compression boost ought to give me another kick in the azz.... :D
