You do whatever you like, I m not here to measure dicks, just to help the newly introduced owners.. The rod ,as I showed you is readily available for 68-72 models .. I have nothing further on the matter, the OP can do as he feels best, as can you .
And what YOU might seem to not take into consideration is what the owner may want for a repair to his Corvette. Which is why I wrote what I wrote. You solution is plausible...but it depends on if the owner want to take away from factory design.

Installing the rod you initially posted means that the original rod needs to be removed and it STILL has a purpose. Or drilling holes in parts that did not come that way from the factory AS you should know being a Corvette repair guy. The 1973 and later were supported differently and eventually went to rubber bushing.

Because ...some people may NOT want to add a rod or later design of part in order to keep the car factory correct. Did you consider that or ask that?

So...'measuring d---s'. It actually came to that??? A crying shame that we could not agree and what I wrote was not for you or attacking you anyway because you know it all. It was for others who may not know.

Not knowing that Bob wants in regards to his Corvette. He has not replied on what actual rod he has...which I stated before I believe is the correct factory one....and if he want to add another or not.

It seems odd to me that you " had no time " to post the solution for his problem, but plenty of time to criticize me.. I have yet to see your solution that is "approved" by you.. Wouldn t it have been far less time consuming to such a busy guy like you to just POST your solution and let the OP decide which one OR NONE of them he wants.. I saw nothing in his post about concern for competition judging.. If Your obsession with judging somehow makes you feel superior to those of us who have owned and worked on these cars since THEY WERE NEW..{ I bought by first in 1971]..well ,enjoy your pedestal.

I try to get as many facts as I can when some of these needed facts are left out before I throw out 'ideas' or opinions. The reason being...I have done that in the past and WHEN more information has been given...my previous suggestions were worthless....SO...I try to understand what the owner WANTS to achieve when the job is completed.

AND if you do this type of work...don't you also want to give your customer what they want and asking them so you CAN give them what they want is a part of the job....isn't it????? Or do you do what YOU want ...regardless what the customer wants?

Obviously you have not been reading this post because the OP has not been back on to reply....so throwing out ideas is POINTLESS.....and I AM NOT all concerned about judging....but some people are concerned. WHICH if he is...the later design support rod will not work. AS I have stated but you seem not to realize or care to acknowledge. I consider the possibility that the owner does not want to alter the car...but repair what he has and keep it original...if it is still original. Maybe you do not think that way...maybe you do....hard to tell...which is FINE. But I do think that way. Fault me for that.....well that is your choice.

Like my Mom would say to me...."It not your job to worry about what others think of you" ...and this is a perfect example of that.
It is funny how with your emotions in such a heightened state....HOW you read that I am obsessed about judging. I just don't get it.

The ONLY pedestal I am on is the one YOU put me on. REMEMBER THAT!
