Help! '73 convertible hatch seal?
Since the seal had nothing left, I have no idea whether the seal goes onto the body lip or onto the convertible hatch itself.
Anybody out there with close up pictures of the hatch and seal so I can see how this goes together? None of the books I have show this detail.
I will appreciate your help!

Nice picture from Paul!
Do you know about the Assembly Instruction Manual? That's the kind of information you'll find there. It's on a drawing entitled "Lid, Lock Assembly, Bumper & Hinge Assembly.
If you don't have one you should really consider buying one, most of the larger vendors sell them and you'll find it well worth the $.

I've got various manuals, but just didn't find this detail - this helps a lot. FYI, this is a '73 convertible vintage racer that I'm restoring. From a "history" standpoint, it's not a "significant" car, but belonged to a friend of mine who passed away from cancer in 2011. The car went underwater in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, after which my friend took it apart to save it. At some point after 2005, he contracted cancer, and was never able to put it back together and race it again. His wife gave me the car with the proviso that I rebuild it and put it back on track. It came to me as a literal bare body/chassis and pile of parts. I've got everything done now except engine. That'll be done shortly. As a Mustang guy, this has been a great learning experience!
There is increasing interest in old race cars, (even those without significant or well known history), so what you're doing is becoming a bit more common.
It sounds like having the AIM on hand might be of help to you as you try to figure this puzzle out.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
