Quick Question on SB Holes
It's a '73 Corvette 350, 190 HP engine.
Are these holes for Oil Temperature or optional Oil Pressure Sensors, or something else?
Thanks.
Steve

The large hole in the rear is for the clutch linkage bell crank but I'm not sure about the front one. Might be for a truck application.

They are both for the clutch linkage ball. The small plug below the two larger holes is for oil pressure.

Gotchya. Makes sense to me: I have an automatic.
Now that I know they aren't into an oil galley, I'll sleep better tonight.
Thanks folks.

Hi Steve,
I believe you'll find that on a 73 sb the forward hole is for the clutch z-bar ball stud on a 4-speed car.
The rear hole is unused, as is the small hole with the pipe plug in it.
The connection for the oil pressure gauge is on the rear flange of the engine directly behind and just below the distributor.
Regards,
Alan

Thank you Alan,
Some day I hope to get a car that will utilize that forward hole.

Hi Steve,
I understand what you mean….. I think it's a bit more fun to drive a manual transmission car….. but some people certainly love their automatics!

Believe me, it's very easy to tell if you forgot to plug a hole that goes to the oil gallery

This is correct. Corvettes use the front hole, everything else uses the rear hole.

You mean, like
THIS ONE?
Know all about it now. Was rewarded with having to install that intake manifold
AND HEAD twice.
That's why I asked the question.
