Default Engine temp sending unit location

1976 L48 original motor.

Can someone post a pic of the engine temp sending unit? Trying to locate it to troubleshoot a guage that stopped functioning. I checked the AIM but I must keep missing it. Not sure if I need to get under the car to access it.

Thanks,
Mike

On top of intake manifold or the driver's side on your head.

The sender could be on the top of the intake manifold or in the side of either of the two heads IF they have been changed to later models.
