Default Sta-bil question

My specific question is does using sta-bil or sta-bil 360 cause any problems with the fuel injection?

the same way the gas refiners do. there is an additive put in fuel that keeps the water absorbed by the alcohol in suspension. this is what breaks down over time. stabil is just adding more of the same, but it WILL break down as well.

I do not use it, but it won't hurt if used correctly. problem is, people buy a can use a little, it sits on the shelf, gets old, then they pull out their rototiller or whatever that's been sitting for 3 years and it's all gummed up! a lot of people think they'll dump stabil in gas that's already old then forget about it and run in to trouble later....

if you check stabil's website FAQ, they answer the questions about if stabil is good for fuel injection, do you need the special stabil for ethanol, etc. basically they say you can use any of the products in any situation (not in so many words), they pretty much just market it differently (line extension in marketing speak) to increase the appeal to more users...

there is nothing wrong with using it if you follow the directions. OTOH, I've never had a problem with any of my vehicles or bikes or small engines sitting over the winter. it usually takes over a year for the carb to get gummy, but then I always turn off the fuel and run the carb dry. for fuel injection, you don't have a bowl of gas to worry about just top off the tank and keep air/moisture away from it and you'll be fine...

By preventing phase separation.. It does stop the moisture absorption...I use it religiously in our boats , have for many years.. No fun cleaning 18 carbs every year. .. Humidity here is 90% on a good day. Boats are stored 6 months at a time , carbs will be gummed up upon first use in spring. Stabilizers prevent the Ethanol from causing this.. Gasoline is not a problem since lead was removed. I don't use it in my Corvettes only because they are never stored.. I drive them regularly. You can google tests on this, it is not a myth, it is science

I started using Sta-bil because my 72 will sometimes sit for 2 to 3 months. No issues with the fuel system or carb since. However before using Sta-bil sticky carb float floats and carb rebuilds were a frequent issue for my car.

I use marine sta-bil and Star Tron. I have performed repairs that have taken a year or more. The one time I did not use it, I had to drain my tank as the car would not run with the gas stored in the tank. Fresh gas and it fired right up. Also, a friend with an old C3 had to replace his tank as it rusted. Looking with a flashlight, mine is corrosion free. Having said all this, I do not use it except when the car is going into layup for more than 6 months.

According to what I read, you should be fine with fuel injection. However, you can contact Gold Eagle Co.’s customer service at 1-800-367-3245 or get information at http://www.goldeagle.com/brands/sta-bil#marine_formula
