Went to the parts store to buy paint for my 1969 350/350.....which should I buy, the Duplicolor 1607 (Chevrolet Red-Orange) or the 1620 (Chevrolet Orange)? I guess I never realized there were two Chevrolet Oranges......
The 1607 Red-Orange is correct....since that is what you were asking.

That looks like one of them thar double pumper things that aren't suited for street use. Worse yet its probably a 750 cfm that isn't suited for a 350" because its way too big.

It isn't suited for a 350...you are correct. This is a 406.
So what is the 1620? Is this an early/late thing like the Ford Blue?
I tried to Google this up and came up with nothing.....
I have no idea what the lighter 1620 true orange is for.....
I know over the years that a lot of engines at car shows were painted the orange/orange.....and it is incorrect.....unless you like it!

I see mostly the lighter color on cars at "shows" but the big deal cars use the darker Red-orange...go figure.....
The Chevy red-orange color is for early Chevy V8 engines (265). Shortly after, they changed to the Chevy orange engine color (thru 1977) which then went to "Corporate Blue".
Use whatever brand you want, but 'red-orange' is NOT what you want.
