I purchased a shifter assembly with the rods pictured below. They are supposed to be for a Muncie however the slots in the brackets (where they attach to the trans) are not long enough. Do I have the incorrect brackets for the trans? If so where can I get the correct ones? Thanks.
Muncies before 1969 used the levers like in your picture and were attached with a nut to a stud, In 1969 they changed to a bolt mount and that must be what your trans has. The slot is a different size and the older levers will not fit the newer style, but the newer style will fit the older trans with an adapter.

Volunteer Products makes all of the 64-81 levers, as well as complete linkage kits. The 69-73 1-2 and 3-4 levers sell for $10 each, and the reverse lever is $15. For $69 you can get a complete new linkage set, with correct levers, rods, nuts, bolts, clevis, swivel, etc.

I may have to go that route. I am going to try a little tweaking first and see. It was originally a manual car that someone converted to auto so I did not have anything to start with when making the change back. I thought I had purchased the correct components but I guess not. Thanks for your help.
