Only once, to get the broken one replaced. The biggest difference was being able to hear traffic that you passed. Didn't notice any more turbulence than usual even at 60 MPH.
Hi RD,
When I drove my car daily I took the window out quite often when the weather permitted.
I don't recall that there was any 'turbulence' at all.
It's a bit odd at first to drive with the rear window out…. but the side windows up…. you really hear the vehicle behind you in a new way.
Regards,
Alan
The removable rear window is one of the nicer features of an early C3.
To remove the T tops you have to plan ahead.
To remove the rear window you just reach behind your head pop the latches and drop it down in the rear compartment.
Easily done at a stop sign or while you are driving.
I could count on one hand the number of times I have taken the T tops off and have fingers left over.
The rear window is out frequently regardless of the weather.
I'm with others...the rear window comes out when temps get above tolerable...65 or 70 degrees. It stays out all summer and goes back in when a chilly drive is necessary.
The t-tops GENERALLY stay off, but the mid-day sun is a real problem sometimes. I'll put them back in for shade. Still keep the rear window out, though.
