AC evaporator swap
Wondering if anyone has swapped a 1980 ac evaporator and drier into a 76e car? I have been fighting the vir and have decided to try to retrofit an orifice tube system rather than settle for sub-par cooling and pia piece of equipment. Curious about fitment of evaporator in ac/heater core box? Any help would be appreciated.

I recall looking in my Delco catalog years ago and noticed almost all the GM evaporators were the same dimension . the only thing that really changed on them was the inlet and outlet lines

Looks like the 82 or so will retro into a 73 or 74. Questions
- Does the compressor match up?
- Can I use the same condensor?
- Is the evaporator the only change?
any general info on a sway is appreciated.

I am going to use the original a6 compressor, even though it is not designed to be cycled. The condenser should work fine but I believe you need to change the vir to an accumulator/drier and add the orifice tube to the new evaporator.
