Default Tie Rod Sleeves

I'm in the process of buying parts for a complete front suspension refresh and need to know if tie rod sleeves should be replaced as a wear item? (really don't know what would wear out on those) Bought new Moog tie rods...but not the sleeves.

This is the last of my parts to buy and really wondering if I should replace .....or clean and paint the old sleeves. 73 L82

That's a good question. I bought one of the kits, and the sleeves were part of it. Since all other parts in the kit were wear items, I assumed they were also. With all the work you are doing, I can't imagine the cost would be that bad. I would replace them.

Hi JB,
Since the tie rod ends are set at alignment, and then held in place with the clamp and bolt/nut, I really don't see what could wear on the tube.
They might get bent or their threads stripped, but 'worn'?
Regards,
Alan

Remember, right and left threads on the tube.

Joe.. its rare we replace the tubes in our shop...

The best way to tell if you need them or not.. When you have them off the car roll them on a flat surface... if they wobble replace them and if they don't re-use.

I replaced my tie rods ends and kept my stock tubes. They've been under the car since April of 68.
