Default Another 1970 lt1 question. Timing cover

Can someone tell me if the timing cover for a 1970 LT1 engine is the same for a standard 350 engine?
Thanks in advance,
Nelson007

the cover itself is the same, just check the timing tab to make sure it also is the same

All 1970 350 four barrel carburetor motors have the same front cover for an 8" harmonic balancer. You need to be careful about sourcing the proper part, timing tab locations changed from 1968-69later model year Chevy Small blocks and the harmonic balancer indicator changed by about 15 degrees of angle (the later versions also had some changes in about the mid 70's.) They come up on Ebay, I might have one still kicking around but, I'd have to look in my storage later this week. PM me if your in need.

Hi,
I believe 70 model year 350 engines had a smooth edged tab that was spot welded (?) to the timing cover, while 71-72 350 engines had a sawtooth edged tab and was mounted using 2 of the timing cover bolts.
Regards,
Alan

71-72 sawtooth

Thanks for all the help.
My cover has the spot weld, but has the saw tooth timing marks.
