Default Window Problems

Okay, I'm finishing off my window system overhaul on the passenger side. Took everything apart, wired brushed the regulator to remove surface rust, and reassembled the motor. Everything was coated with white lithium grease. My problem is that the window doesn't go all the way up. It stops about an inch shy. When I looked down the rails there was about an inch gap between the rollers and the stops at the top. What could be stopping this? It makes a solid stop like it's hitting something. When I reinstalled the regulator, I only found the 2 top holes to mount it. Isn't there a 3rd hole at the bottom? I can't find if there is.It just seems kind of flimsy at the bottom. I thought that somewhere on the regulator it might be binding up against the slide rail or something. The drivers side works great. Any ideas?

Make sure you don't have a bolt that's too long and hitting the window or track. I'll see about posting a pic of the mechanism.

Yes there is a 3rd hole at the bottom, on mine when I had the regulator out I found the bracket to be cracked. Apparently it's a issue as you can buy the lower bracket separate. I'm sure that it would make it loose at the base. Whether that would cause the regulator to bind at the top end I don't know but could be a start.

Did you check the regulator and motor gears for wear? Also lift the motor gear out to check the other gears.

Do you have a pic of this by chance? When I had everything out it didn't appear that nothing was broken or missing. The gears don't look worn.

It's been a few years since I did mine but I remember there was a stopper in one of the tracks that could be adjusted so the window wouldn't go to high and catch the T Top when shutting the door.

Well, yes and no. I didnt take any pictures when I had mine apart, but if you search "window regulator spring" from last month I had a post and a couple guys replied and put up a picture of the bracket. Only thing I can say from mine was that after I found it was cracked I was getting ready to remove it and it actually fell off. If I wasnt looking at it there wasnt any dead giveaway that it was missing other than no where to attatch the lower mounting bolt. Quite possibly if yours is missing might be the regulator moves enough to bind the window up so you arent reaching the top. Once you see the bracket it will make more sense, but mine was cracked right at the bend and then followed right to the 1st rivet.
