Default Anti theft lock

I'm troubleshooting the anti theft circuit in my early '77 where the key lock is in the left front fender. I have it out of the car and it appears to me to be some kind of solenoid switch so that when activated the tang on the end would extend and push on the switch that is located right next to it. I applied 12V to the orange and pink wires of the lock, inserted the key and turned it but nothing happens. Anyone have any insight into this, is the lock toast or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Jim

Question answered, I talked to the guy at my local Corvette parts store. The key lock does not routinely activate or deactivate the system by turning the key. It is mounted with the tab (or tang) pushing against the microswitch that is sitting right next to it. Then if a thief forcibly removes the lock it will open the circuit and set off the alarm. So looks like I don't need to replace it which is good because the part has been discontinued.
