Default Smog pump casting questions

I'm in the process of restoring my engine in a 1968 L71 4 speed February 26 production. I have the smog pump that was in a box when I purchased the car five years ago and I believe it is not correct for my car. I have reviewed NCRS reference information as well as the 68 assembly manual. The smog pump casting is a 7801149 the correct casting number should be 7801135 what is the difference between the two castings? Can this casting be used on the 68? as stated in the NCRS the number is not judged (hidden). All information would be greatly appreciated. I will have other request for other information in the near future.

Hi B,
What I've found is that the 7801149 is the pump used for 70-72 cars (at least).
One of the differences between the 1149 pump and the 68 pump is the way the pressure relief valve was mounted to it.
There's mention that the 68 pump sometimes appeared on 72 cars which makes me think you might be able to use the 1149 on your 68 car.
But, I don't know for sure.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks, Alan I agree with you on the use of this casting the stamped date on this one is May 27, 1970. I know from previous postings you have many outstanding photos relating to questions posted on the forum l have to ask do you have a picture of the correct relief valve on a 68 corvette smog pump? In advance I thank you for your response and all the help you provide to the forum.

The smog pump body, fan, and pulley that I have look the same as the picture. The pully I have according to the NCRS judging guide is correct for the '68 BB 427. The diverter valve I have is different then pictured which it should be because of the 3/2 manifold. The diverter valve I have is stamped 29298 which I believe is for a '69 the valve I need is a 28296 that has a different configuration. I need to try and come up with the correct diverter valve either by trading or purchasing. Thanks for the picture if other pictures are available of the 3/2 setup would be appricated.I have seen other pictures of '68 3/2 setup without the breather outlet I'm just trying to make the engine as close to original configuration as possible without going crazy. '68's are so much fun trying to come up with correct parts.
