No, you don't want to use it as a vent. The unit will leak if you do. There were no front seals on those transmissions. Factory Muncies do not have front seals. The fitting was a cooler return.

Thanks again.

He has an M22. Other gearboxes have a gear angle of ca. 45°.

However the straight angle of the M22 is more prevalent on the lower gears.

Carl, if you refer to post #1 you will have a clearer view of the gears. As Belgian saying the pitch is more noticeable on the lower gears.

Thanks for the tip about the other boxes.

I agree with Redvetracr about selling that inferior tranny and get a Tex Racing. If you have any amount of power the case will break.

I would find the rule book, but none of the sanctioning bodies I know of have a problem with t 101's or some people even have the Jericos from NASCAR teams and they have coolers

When you get to "stupid" horsepower levels, I believe the casing itself is the weak point, not the gears inside. I'd do a M22 gearset just to hear the gear whine and say I have a "Rock Crusher".

I haven't looked, but I believe there are folks that have created a heavier duty case within which all this stuff can go.

Of course, if you start getting too silly about it, a TKO500 5-speed becomes a very real option.

Looks awesome, though. I LOVE finding better stuff than I expected inside of things.
Yes there is a company that makes a heavier case I think they are up in New York

The cases crack back in the sloping area to the tail shaft. Using things like a lite weight damper, flywheel, pressure plate help keep drive line shock down. Solid motor mounts...... It is the thrust internally against thin casting. It is kind of like a two bolt main block. You just don't have enough support on the main caps and it limits the amount of power max before the bottom breaks

I would not even want to own one. They were junk 45+ years ago when I was first hot rodding cars. People with big blocks just tore them up. The cure back then was to install TH400's with a clutch instead of a TC
