Default Help Identify Carb Please

Hey Guys, I'm trying to buy a mounting gasket for my carb on my '76, but the one they want to sell me isn't the right one for my carb.
Now I'm thinking the carb might not be original to the car.
The numbers stamped on the card are:
1705620
52062
2335 ADB
If anyone can help identify this carb, what it came out of originally came out of, it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
- Jay

Strange number, seems to be short a digit. 1705 suggests it is a 1975-1977 carb. Are you sure there isn't another number there? It should be 1705620X.

At first blush I thought it was an early 70s carb, but that can't be the case if the serial starts with 17.

That gasket looks pretty close to what you should have, to be honest. Two of the mounting holes seem like they are missing their inserts, though.

I installed a new base gasket on my 76 L-82, and this was the one I used: http://www.parts123.com/corvettecent...50g&ukey=11345

That one does not work on my car Brcmpbl, I tried it. That opening between the small ports makes a big difference.

Can you explain a little more why it won't work?

Are you running the stock manifold?

I have a Edelbrock performer manifold, but I'm pretty sure this is the original gasket.
With the other gasket, when I crank the engine it revs to 4500rmp then shuts off, wont idle.

The original gasket would be the same as the one that is in the link I posted above (the one you are having trouble with). It could be the interface with the intake manifold, but I'm not sure because I'm mostly a stock guy (both of my cars have the original cast intakes).

If the gasket in the pic you posted above is the one you took off your engine, it appears to be correct for a 1981 Corvette. CC also has that, you could try it (local auto parts store might be able to get you one too if you ask for one for an 81):

My intake has 2 big hole instead of 2 big & 2 small. That first one may work on a stock intake, I have no idea how I ended up with the other gasket.
I sure appreciate you tracking that one down for me!

That's the correct gasket for your carb and engine. If your manifold has 4 large holes instead of 2 small and 2 large, you have the wrong intake manifold - not the wrong gasket. Your intake manifold is a "square bore" manifold which cannot be used with a spread bore Q-Jet carb.

Your Edelbrock intake manifold will have the part number cast into the rear just to the left of the distributor and it should be a #2101 (non EGR) or a 3701 (EGR). The numbers will be cast in and about 5/8" tall so you should be able to easily see it. From what you're saying it sounds like you have a square bore manifold and to use that you'll need an adapter to run your QuadraJet on it.

Thank you Lars,
I'm running the 2101 mainfold, with this spacer. Is that not a good combo?
