what gear oil
1979 vette with limited slip diff rear noise coming from rear end left side what gear oil do i put in to get rid of the noise.
to replace whats in there now.

Noise on one side only would indicate a failing wheel bearing. If it makes a "growling" sound all the time that's what it is.

Differential clutch noise is usually while turning at slow crawl.. if its growling in a straight line on only one side ,its likely your Spindle bearings on that side ... Replace both sides or you will be doing this again soon
