Default 79 Dual exhust

I am in the process of installing the new exhaust on the 79 I've been reviving, I opt to a dual exhaust. The stock system had all the pipes running along the passenger side, one of the mounting point is at the frame close to the differential. Now that it will have dual exhaust: can someone share how and where did you mount the hanger for the pipe on the driver side.
I was going to duplicate the location of the stock exhaust mounting point, but it will require drilling a new hole for the self tapping bolt I wanted to use. Pics if all posible. Thank you.

Factory dual's never used any hangers at the differential. Only the 75-82 systems, with the catalytic converter, used the rear hanger, likely because of the added weight of the converter.

Chevrolet only used a horseshoe shaped hanger attached to the trans mount, and a hanger on each muffler. There's no need to replace the hanger that originally supported the single exhaust at the rear Y-pipe.

On my 82 the drivers side tail pipe is held in by the extension pipe and the muffler. No hanger used, the clamp tension holds it from twisting. I used a system from Pypes that runs down the passenger side and has a "H" style cross over pipe to support and keep the pipes from twisting. Hard to explain in writing but Google the system from Pypes and you can see.

My bad, thought he was talking about the trans crossmember.

However the diff crossmember has holes for the hangers already predrilled. I used generic exhaust rubbers, bolted them to the trans and welded a bent rod under the exhaust that would hang in the rubbers. Works perfect.

Default Modified '80 cross member for true dual exhaust

I switched to a true dual exhaust on my '80 when I put in full length headers when I had the original Super T-10 transmission. I modified the front cross member on the drivers side as I explained briefly with a few pictures here:

Let me know if you'd like more pictures and explanation of this modification.

I later upgraded to a 5-speed transmission kit that came with a new front cross member already made for true dual exhaust. I sold my original dual exhaust and cross member to a guy at work with an '81.

The OP doesn't need to modify the cross member on his 79, to add dual exhaust.

Unlike 80-82's, that only have a dimple in the right side of the cross member, 68-79 cross members with two holes in them for the exhaust pipes to go through.

All that's needed to convert a 75-79 to dual exhaust, is a stock 74 exhaust system.

Here is a photo of my 79 with a early C3 stock hanger bracket that mounts with the transmission mount. I did have to make a spacer so that the pipe was centered in the frame. Hope the photo helps.

Thank you everyone for the great pics and inputs. I duplicated the mount on the trans on my 72LT1. With just a temp bracket at the muffle tip area, the exhaust is solid, now I need to fabricate the permanent mount.
