Default 1972 Rochester Quadra Jet

Car is in the shop and they're telling me the carburetor core is warped. Anyone ever heard of this?

Hi r44,
Yes. I've read about this problem quite often.
I believe there's a 'fix', but I don't know how involved or successful it is.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for the quick reply Alan. They're suggesting a replacement core for $275.00 plus labor.

Hi r44,
As we have learned from Lars there are ALL KINDS of rebuilt Q-jets around with many of them being pretty much worthless.
Perhaps someone with some recent experience in buying a Q-Jet can give you some input on what to buy and where to buy from.
Sorry I can't help more.
Regards,
Alan

Purchased a Refurbished (Stage 1) Qjet from SMI, Shaun Murphy Induction, in CA recently and can attest it's a quality job. Just bolted in on my '73 BB, adjusted the choke and mixture screws and it has run excellent ever since. My 750 cfm carb $375 plus shipping.

Depending how you are with originality perhaps a newer Q-Jet with an electric choke and adjustable APT?

Default 72 Qjet

I currently have a really nice 72 QJet listed on ebay for $100. 231875697603 is the auction number.
