So I've been asking several questions recently on timing my 68 Tripower. Now I have another on my distributor orientation. I can't install my pass side bracket that holds the chrome cover over the distributor because the vacuum advance and hose are in the way. Is it possible to rotate the distributor one tooth and change the wires the same? I suspect it wasn't always that way.
Thanks
The #1 plug wire should be in the terminal on the CCW side of the points door. This should put your vacuum advance can roughly parallel to the firewall. Most Chevys have the #1 plug wire in the CW side of the door but not the Vette. You might want to buy a AIM guide to help with assembly questions.

Thanks for the pic Paul. My 1st vette was a 74 that I had back in 79. Same color.
So guys how do I correct my problem? I'm clearly out of rotation. My car is off getting an alignment after front end rebuild so I can't send a picture until I get it back tomorrow. BTW it runs just fine the way it is.

You wouldnt have to pull the distributor. Label your wires. Just rotate the crank to tdc, rotate the disrtributor to make the vacuum clear the bracket. See how far over you need to move the wires to be correct at tdc.
That article is grossly out of date, and it does not have the diagram for the Service Bulletin installed orientation - don't use that article. E-mail me for a correct and current version. Tell whoever is posting that article to remove it.
