i recently purchased a column and found this number on the column on a sticker:

CV 7815669

can anyone tell me what this number references?

I Googled 7815669. It's a GM part number (likely for a steering column) and has been discontinued. I'm betting CV stands for Corvette.

You have a 1973 - 74 Corvette tilt & telescoping steering column. The CV on the sticker is actually a broadcast code to help the Corvette assembly plant. Rather than having to read the seven digit part number, the broadcast code makes it much easier for the person on the car assembly line to locate the correct part with just the two letters in a larger font.
