So I have A project with lots of GM parts BUT which would be correct for a L88 or like I have been told neither is correct for a Big Block 427cui. Pt#40170/6415748 1st design looks like Magnessium, 2nd Alloy housing???
Thank you , for your comments Gents , but it still makes me ask looking in the ''Chevrolet Power'' 2nd edition 2-43 service parts for Fuel Pump High Capacity? now were they saying that the recommended part for H/D corvette should use this number???
The 427cui is my intended engine.
Looks like the motor has a Carter mechanical pump on it already....far better piece than either of the 2 AC/Delco pumps you have pictured. Edelbrock and Holley still sell a version of the Carter pump....the Holley part is 12-454-13 for the proper fuel pressure pump. If you want a really nice bulletproof piece...CV Products sells a billet 5 valve pump with 7.5PSI output pressure for around $400.....it is the best piece avalible but, you'll pay for that quality.
Looking at the Yenko Supercar forum, they say your 40170 pump is the correct one? Since you have taken liberties with your valve covers.....why not do the same with the fuel pump.

Thanks for your advice I may still get the CV item as backup to the one in top that I used, as for the valve covers brought these Carlisle 1998 when I visited USA first time to the solid axle club.

If you are looking in the Chevrolet Power book immediately after the big block section their is a list of part numbers by group, you dont see that part number listed there?
you dont have the later edition such as 5? I dont have it near me at the moment but there is a section with specific part numbers after the Large Block section.
