th400 trans mount replacement

th400 trans mount replacement

Before I start, can the top bolts be reached without removing the cross member? Looks like the e-brake tab will be in the way even if the trans is lifted.

I installed a th400 into a car with a fixed crossmember, and didn't have any issues( the engine was out at the time). Does it look as though you can't access the bolts?

Jnb. Thanks for the reply. Looks like the passenger sie might be ok but the driver side is behind the e brake tab welded to the crossmember. I dont know if the x member can be unbolted and slid back along the exhausts or not. Just looking for now, not turning wrenches yet.

What year car is it ?
My 75 has a removable cross member I just did a 700R4 conversion still fresh in mind

Chuck, the car is a 75. Problem with the x member is the exhausts are welded all the way, front to rear. Only way to drop the x member is to cut the pipes.

I understand I had to cut mine as well Bummer
raise the transmission to make it easier
