200-4r Cooling Line Fitting
I haven't been under my Hurst/Olds in a while and don't have a 2004R sitting around any longer but I'm fairly certain that the fittings were about 3/4" long or so if I remember correctly. - (5/16" inverted flare (1/2-20 thread.
You should be able to pull the short fitting back, they push the line in until it seats and put a mark on it with a sharpie when it's "even" with the end of the adapter in the trans. Then just see how long it travels in to the adapter on the trans. (Replacement fittings will sometimes stick out a bit (the threaded area), but better a slightly longer fitting with more threads exposed, than a slightly shorter one that does not seat properly.
Or, just thread in the current fitting, push the line in until is seats into the trans and mark it to see ho much longer of a fitting you may need.
It's been awhile, but I believe they use an inverted flare, so you'll have to re-flare the same way if you have fittings currently on both ends.
Also, they may still have "extension / adapter fittings" 5/16" male to 5/16" female inverted flare that have a more shallow depth, that you can purchase to insert into the current adapter in the trans, and thread your line with the 1/2" adapter into.

You know what else is odd with those transmissions: If I remember correctly, the thread in the transmission itself appears to be a pipe thread but it's actually not. When I had one of mine rebuilt for the Grand National, I was chatting with the rebuilder and he was mentioning that he get's them in all the time where the transmission is cracked because the adapter was missing and someone tried to install at pipe thread fitting. He said the threads are close but "not quite".
With all of the 2004R's I had around, I never did confirm that for myself, but I did see it mentioned online a few times over the years. Not sure if that's just some "urban legend" or not..
