Hey Guys Im new to the fourm and i have a 68 non matching numbers project car that runs and drives it has a 454 that is rebuilt with a 4 speed im still searching for some misc trim and interior parts and would like some input on adding power brakes, power steering and ac to this car , im located in kennesaw Ga thanks
Welcome! If you have the extra cash let expert members advise you on which parts to buy. If you are on a monthly budget concentrate on one area of the car at a time.
Power brakes might be the easiest modification to start with if you do the work yourself.....it's a weekend job for a rookie like me.

Hi Vc,
Welcome!
You might want to consider obtaining the catalogues that are are offered by Corvette Central, Zip Products, and Paragon Corvette Reproductions.
Having these to look through will help you understand what's available in reproduction and service parts and help you to decide if you should buy used parts or reproduction parts for the things you need for your car.
Also, I don't know if you know about the ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL and CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL for your 68. Many folks find them both pretty useful and worth their cost.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

While yor replacing the steering you might want to put in a tilt column. Im doind a kitchen remodel then buildng a garage for my vette right now, but an ididit column and 64cc 202 heads are next on my list. For my 68. I love the GIGANTIC steering wheel and want to keep it but getting in and out is actual work.
Look at Vintage Air for AC and Borgeson for power steering. You might driving it around for a while with the non-assisted brakes to see if you can get used to them. My original intent was to go with power-assisted brakes, but after driving around for a while without them, I realized there was no point.
You're going to have some fun. Heck you've already got a big block and a 4 speed!!
I would also drive it some with manual brakes to see how you like them. I've got manuals and they stop great. Adding a power booster...either vacuum or hydraulic assist just makes an alrteady tight engine compartment even tighter. PS does it make it nice if you want it. I'd definitely do a Borgeson conversion vs the original stuff. I'd use one of the later style P/S pumps that is smaller and neater. Aftermarket A/C is much cleaner under hood than factory...so definitely the way to go.
Welcome from just north of you in Cartersville Ga....I have a '72 small block with manual brakes that they stop great...As others have suggested drive it for awhile and then decide about the brakes. Power steering and AC were must on my list when I bought my car....I still have to get the AC working but the parts are there. I'll send you a PM with the cheapest place to buy parts I have found so far in the North Ga area.

I like the tilt/telescopic that was available stock as an option.

68 doesn't have an ignition switch on the column and there is something else on how it mounts or something. I asked a while ago and got shot down. Ive forgotten the multiple reasons but its just part of the 68 mystique. Its only $700.00 or so with the adapters for the original wheel. But its cheaper than an original tele that goes for $1000.00 and needs rebuilding. I need the tilt as im getting older, wider and stiffer.

vette cowboy-I also have a 68 convert with NOM 454 and the lack of options you listed. I found that I have added two inches to my biceps turning the manual steering with the big block motor, my right thigh muscle is larger than the left from stopping with the manual brakes and I hardly sweat anymore, since I have gotten used to roasting in the non AC car. You will have fun!

Welcome to the forum.........
I am on the other side of Atlanta but we all share info here.
Besides getting catalogs and the AIM for your car, familiarize yourself with the Advanced Search function in the Search icon in the toolbar listed above.
There is enough info there to keep you busy reading for a couple of years. Lots of "How to do" write ups by some knowledgeable people.
