Ok, I'm gonna try to figure it out this afternoon. Half day at work today so I will report back hopefully in the early afternoon with either success or more questions... haha

Thanks for the help so far!

I THINK I may have found the problem... decided to take the top of the carb off again to check everything (specifically my float level). Took out the primary rods and.... one of the primary rod tips is bent?! not sure how it happened, must have somehow come unseated from the jet. Tried to straighten it out and of course it immediately broke off... new rods ordered. Will report back later next week when they come in if that fixed the problem.

That could do it if it jammed things up.

Plus it would put a lot of fuel in for sure!

It's very easy to bend the tips on Qjet primary rods when the top casting is seated. You have to make sure the rods are properly inserted in the jets before the top is positioned, and then you have to use a thin flat chisel to hold the gasket (and rod hanger) in place as the top is seated. How much was the tip bent? If it was only distorted slightly, the mixture wouldn't be extremely incorrect. The rod would be pushed to one side, but the total area of fuel passage would still be reasonably close. If the tip was doubled back on itself, the two rods may have been jammed into one position. But if that were the case, your throttle response would be terrible over all RPM ranges. If the bent rod was not jammed, the idle and part throttle A/F ratio would be lean, but only be the area of the .026 tip. The WOT A/F ratio would be rich by the same 026 amount. I still think the secondaries were locked out.
BTW, all the rods being sold now have .036 tips, not .026. That will lean the mixture at WOT. Your best bet is to buy a rod from a private seller that has an assortment of parts, not a supply house.
