I have a 1982 Corvette which is having a fuel pump problem, My mechanic changed the relay and check the online fuse and it still does not pump. My mechanic ran a power line to the pump and the car started up. Could there be a problem with the computer. The mechanic checked all wires to see if possible over winter rodent chew and saw none. The mechanic is reading the manule and is running out of fix idea other then computer. This is the first problem I have had with this car in the last 17 years. Colum vzepmg0c@verizon.net
Basically: The fuel pump RELAY should receive a certain amount of voltage from the computer when the ignition switch is turned ON .........then the fuel pump relay will activate and send 12 volts (to the "Roll-Over" Switch if your car has one)......then to the electrical connector at the fuel pump itself.
Do not replace the computer until all the electrical voltages are checked first.

Do you know what the voltage should be and how do you know if your Corvette has a roll over switch. Thank you for the response the weather is hear and the Corvette is in the hospital. Awful feeling. Colum
is your mechanic working with a circuit diagram?
does the car start and then stall out?
does your mechanic know the oil pressure switch is part of the circuit?
The relay plug has enough slack in its cable so that it can to be pulled to the rear toward the battery for better access. Given your description of the problem, I would want to measure voltages on those wires (with the relay plugged in) to see if the coil is being activated by the ECM, and if so, whether the relay contacts are completing the circuit between +12V and the pump. Also, there should be a shot of fuel when the ignition is first turned on, regardless of the condition of the oil pressure switch.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
