Default Brake Caliper Rebuild Problem

Putting new lip style seals in my calipers. Having trouble with Dust boots / seals not staying seated. Any suggestions on whats going on or do I use the old ones ?

If you can't get the new ones to seal, use the old ones if they still make a seal.

If the old dust seals are still in good condition...I would use them.

More than likely the circumference of the new dust seals are off enough to not be able to catch. SO if you are careful...you could tap on the outer steel ring and slightly distort it (peen it) so it then can grab and hold.

I had the same issue with mine. I ended up using 2 of the old seals that were still good. I tried the loose ones in several positions, and they were loose everywhere so I knew it was in the new seal. I got mine from O'reillys, but forget the brand.

I bought the kits from autozone to do my calipers and they fit and worked well... They were like $12 for a kit to rebuild the rears and the same for the fronts if I remember correctly...
