A/C duct issue

A/C duct issue
When I bought my 69 one of the A/C ductwork pieces wasnt mounted in the car, it came in a box of parts with the car. Its the part of the ductwork that feeds air to the left side vent ball. I installed it today and its obvious that something is wrong. It doesnt even come close to connecting up to the piece of ductwork that feeds it. Is the part that connects to the vent ball correct for the car? Does anyone have a pic of what an original 69 ductwork piece looks like? Here's what mine looks like, you can see how far off it is in the pics:

Looks like you have too much "stuff" running above that ducting. Some of that "stuff" runs below it. When you get clear movement of that ducting, you can "duct" tape the joint and all will be good.

Hi TG,
To answer your question… yes it 'appears' you have the correct duct. The same piece was used for about 5 years.
So seems like an alignment problem is causing the mis-fit.
There is lots of flexibility on how the round end of the duct fits on the dash pad deflector…. you likely need to pivot it until the rectangular end meets the larger duct.

Alan

Do you happen to have some pics of what a duct that fits properly looks like so that I can determine what stuff runs beneath it?

Hi TG,
From a 73+ car.
A bit different than yours but...
From this picture it appears both of your ducts need to move toward the steering wheel… right under, and forward, of the dash pad edge.
Just to the front of the car from the controls for the headlights and wipers.

Alan
