For some unknown reason, the passenger side headlight door will no longer open fully. It used to pop up but it always lagged behind the left side light as if it was catching on something on the way up. In looking at the headlight door from the outside, the problem is obvious....The gaps are uneven around the door so now the back of it is hitting the opening in that area on the way up.
It looks like the only way to adjust that door is to somehow loosen those 3 bolts on each side of the door. What is the best way to get to these bolts? It looks like the 3 inboard bolts can be accessed by removing the horn but what about the 3 on the fender side? I'd greatly appreciate any tricks and pointers you have to give.
Hi OS,
The position of the bushings do have some influence on the position of the door in the opening.
The bolts do allow some movement.
The 'stops' right next to the bushings on each side control the side to side adjustment.
Generally the best access is from below through the lower valance openings.
Good Luck.
Regards,
Alan

Typical bushing and stop with set-screw.
Thanks for the help and the picture, Alan. The interference was definitely coming from the back edge of the door where the door was just barely crooked in the opening. As luck would have it, loosening the 3 inboard bolts allowed me to square up the door in the opening. That couple of millimeters was all it took and now all is well
Congrats,
That was your one and only easy fix.
Each owner gets one. After that its pulling your hair out repairs.
Glad you were able to adjust it.
Alan's pictures are great.
