1981- carb / distributor / vac advance ?
Hey Guys - need some quick advice here...
It's been a LONG time in coming (I'm a noob that bit off a LOT to freakin' chew) - dropped a new GM Crate engine into my 1981 - and I THINK she's now ready to fire up... WOOT!
So final connections include vac advance connection... the top / back / middle nipple of my carb used to connect to some emissions crap I no longer have (see Pic 1)...
Pic 1
And I don't think I had this nipple (see Pic 2) on my distributer before (or did I?) - anyway, can I mate these two with a vac line and be good to go?
Pic 2
Thanks for any input!!!

A stock 81 disributor does not have a vacuum advance. Advance is controlled by the computer. If you're still using the computer and, more importantly, the stock carb, this setup won't work.

No, you can't mate those two together.
The back nipple on your carb is the fresh air inlet source for your choke. There is no vacuum there - it's simply a clean air vent port to the air filter.
Hook up your distributor vacuum advance to manifold vacuum. All ports on your carb are manifold vacuum except the choke air source port and the EGR nipple in the forward, lower, passenger side corner.
That assumes you are not running the stock '81 computer controlled carb, because it's not going to work with your setup...
