Bought replacement mast and cable to repair my broken one but cannot remove old mast. Its somehow stuck in the housing. Also has a funny little grey cylinder thing on it about 3 inches long. Is that a CB antenna? My car does not have a CB radio. There are 2 antenna connections on the housing but one doesn't go anywhere.
So how do I get this thing apart so I can put a new mast and cable?
Definitely a CB antenna.
Is it late 79(plastic housing) or early(aluminum housing)?
Your repair cable won't work for the CB unit, it will be too short.
You can get the CB repair cable if you don't mind the CB antenna in your Vette.
The antenna needs to be removed from the car and the mast needs to be removed from the bottom, not the top if that's what you're somehow trying to do.

The funny gray cylinder is the CB antenna load. It should have a silver band on it also you turn the segments in and out to tune the antenna. They are somewhat rare. Do you have a CB antenna assembly? If so, PM me.
