Default Northern VA Molding fix

I spoke too soon about my windshield and molding. Waxing the car this weekend, I noticed that the stainless molding right above the passenger visor, on the outside of course, that the clip is not holding that portion of the horizontal windshield bright work. It looks worse than chit. I am going to try to remove the molding first.

Just so you know, I have a new windshield, all new clips underneath and never a rust problem in the windshield surround, but reused the original stainless molding around the windshield.I don't want to start over with a new windshield just to get to the clips again; which is what happened 2 years ago... I didn't need a new windshield, just the clips & molding fixed.

Does anybody know a great installer in the Northern Virginia area I can consult? This bothers more than Hillary Clinton's face!!!!!

Hi j,
Be careful!
Trying to remove the long horizontal piece of trim you describe without first removing the a-pillar trim can be chancy. It's pretty easy to kink the trim piece because it's so narrow.
If installed properly the ends of that long thin piece should be tucked under the top of the a-pillar pieces.
It's possible that the clips are o.k. and that some of the 'prongs' on the thin piece weren't set into the clips properly which is causing the gap.
There could be a more involved reason for what you're seeing but hopefully not.
Good Luck.
Regards,
Alan

Here you can see how the thin piece of trim goes under the a-pillar trim.

There is a new shop in Chantilly called Corvette Motorsports. I have not tried them yet but here is the website: http://corvettemotorsports.com/

reviews appear decent...but I cannot vouch for them. I could tell you somewhere NOT to go tho.

I have installed the A-pillar SS trim before and I knew it overlapped; Thanks for the advice though - every bit helps. I never do anything, esp. cosmetic without taking a photo first for reinstall purposes... I had to order my pillar trim from Corvette Central years ago when they were the only people selling and even that was a used piece from an earlier model... took 6 mos. to arrive. It felt like waiting for some poor sap to total his Corvette for me to get a transplant! I just haven't removed the center piece. I was hoping to find someone around the DMV that was an Ace window molding installer for these older cars.

I have been dealing with them since 2010. Not sure if they replace window trim molding, though... I'll ask. Thanks!
