new shifter ****
Am looking for a white shifter **** for my '76 4-speed, but having a problem
finding one with enought room underneath the ****(around the threaded hole) to allow the shifter to go in reverse--- any suggestions?

Your best bet is to find another vette **** (or I can sell ya mine :lol: ) ....and paint it white !!!
Also, did you check eBay ? ....to my knowledge only chrome & black chrome are avail. for the corvette Hurst shifter... :crazy:
